Kelvin Hughes installs SharpeEye radar on Trinidad & Tobago patrol boats

WASHINGTON, Feb. 1 (UPI) -- Kelvin Hughes has completed installing its new SharpEye upmast radar system on four Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard patrol boats.

The SharpEye radar is designed to provide target detection capabilities in harsh weather conditions such as heavy rain. The company says the equipment was made to support coast guard missions to counteract illegal activity from a naval platform.

The four boats now carrying the SharpEye radar are Damen Star Patrol 5009 Coastal Patrol Vessels, known as the TTS Speyside, Quinam Moruga and Carli Bay. The boats are tasked with patrolling Trinidad and Tobago's coastal waters.

The radar system will be used to help the boats remain out of sight and for conventional radar detection while still being able to track vessels under investigation.
