DOD taps Gilbane Federal for Saudi Air Force construction work

ARLINGTON, Va., Feb. 10 (UPI) -- A design and build project at King Khalid Air Base In Saudi Arabia is to be conducted by Gilbane Federal under the U.S. Foreign Military Sales program.

The contract, worth $166 million, was awarded by the Department of Defense for the Royal Saudi Air Force and is connected to the kingdom's modernization of F-15SA aircraft at the facility.

Gilbane Federal is a subsidiary of Gilbane Building Company, a privately held, family-owned business with projects around the world.

Under the contract, which will be managed by the U.S. Air Force, Gilbane will design and build new facilities on the base, renovate existing facilities and perform infrastructure upgrades. Included in the work will be the construction of the new King Khalid Training Center, which will provide academic and hands-on training for F-15SA aircraft maintenance within a campus-style setting, and building of a new avionics/pod facility.

An auditorium, hangers, an administration facility and dormitories are also covered by the award.
