Allied Minds Inc. and the MITRE Corporation are partnering to commercialize technology from U.S. academic and government research laboratories.
The first area being focused on is innovations in cyber and mobile security, they said in a joint announcement.
“The agreement with MITRE marks an important milestone in our efforts to provide more opportunities to introduce technology innovations to the commercial marketplace,” said Chris Silva, chief executive officer of Allied Minds. “The unique and growing network of government-sponsored R&D centers that have joined this technology transfer effort over the past 18 months demonstrates the shared vision and commitment we all have in this public-private partnership to support the global competitiveness of our nation's economy.”
Allied Minds is a technology company that commercializes technologies developed at university and federal government research labs. Working with the company for commercialization of technology are a growing number of U.S. Department of Defense-sponsored research and development organizations, including The Aerospace Corporation, U.S. Army Research, Development, and Engineering Command and the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division.
The MITRE Corporation, a not-for-profit organization that operates six federally funded research and development centers.
Allied Minds said that through its subsidiary, Allied Minds Federal Innovations, it will review technologies developed through MITRE's R&D program with commercial potential, license their use and then “fully fund the establishment of new businesses to develop commercial applications for those innovations.”
