TEL AVIV, Israel, Feb. 3 (UPI) -- Lockheed Martin and EMC Corp. have joined to fund, research and develop technology in Israel with local companies and organizations.
The cooperative effort for projects in cloud computing, data analytics and cybertechnology, will be based in the Advanced Technologies Park in Be'er-Sheva, Israel.
"Under the arrangement, Lockheed Martin and EMC will identify a series of development opportunities that can be contracted to Ben-Gurion University of the Negev and other subject matter experts," Lockheed said. "Local technology talent supporting the projects will commit to regular project reviews and deliverable schedules in their efforts to develop next-generation EMC and Lockheed Martin capabilities."
EMC which has its headquarters in Massachusetts, has more than 1,000 people employees, and maintains sales and research and development centers there. Lockheed Martin has its headquarters in Bethesda, Md.

Ben-Gurion University President Rivka Carmi said the school is proud to work alongside the two companies.
"This new initiative will join the successful ongoing BGU-EMC cooperation and will provide an additional framework for close cooperation in sharing and developing research, resources, talent and innovative solutions to national and global challenges," he said.
