LONDON, Jan. 27 (UPI) -- Nearly a dozen SharpEye radar sets from Kelvin Hughes have been ordered by a provider of vessel traffic management systems to protect offshore facilities.
The oil and gas facilities are in Azerbaijan's Caspian Sea area.
Kelvin Hughes said it is supplying a total of 11 SharpEye radar sets to VisSim, a provider and integrator of vessel traffic management systems for use as part of its Marine Asset Protection and Surveillance System.
Kelvin Hughes' system consists of on-shore and offshore components. The onshore SBS-800-2 system features an upmast, X-Band radar transceiver with a low profile antenna. Offshore equipment includes SBS-800-1 antenna systems.
With the use of a fiber optic connection, the offshore SharpEye transceivers will be able to transmit more data at higher speeds, ensuring improved picture quality at the radar display.

The radars are expected to be installed in August.
