TYSONS CORNER, Va., Sept. 18 (UPI) -- A Virginia county outside Washington, D.C., is touting its business opportunities for British companies involved in homeland security.
The Fairfax County Economic Development Authority reports its executives and industry specialists will speak at a Sept.26 seminar in London, which is organized with UK Trade& Investment, a government department working with British businesses to ensure their success in the international market.
"This event is perfectly tailored to help UK companies understand the U.S. homeland security market, which is one of Fairfax County's market strengths and continues to grow," said Gerald L. Gordon, Ph.D., president and chief executive officer of the CEO of the FCEDA. "We very much appreciate the opportunity to collaborate with UKTI to offer this session."
In addition to Gordon, others speaking at the seminar are: Ed Jesson, president of OBXtek, a Fairfax County-based, service disabled veteran-owned small business that provides information technology and management services; Chris Oglesby, senior vice president at cyber-security firm Knowledge Consulting Group; and Karen Harbaugh, principal at Squire Sanders, an international law firm.
FCEDA, which maintains an office in London, said more than 80 British companies are currently part of Fairfax County's business.
