RONOKE, Va., Sept. 12 (UPI) -- The U.S. Army has given U.S. Foreign Military Sales orders to Exelis to supply Canada with night vision devices and image intensifier tubes.
The orders are worth a total of $9 million, the company said.
"Exelis remains committed to serving our international customers with unmatched Generation 3 night vision technology that allows for improved mission success," said Nick Bobay, president of the Exelis Night Vision & Tactical Communications Systems division. "This order further enhances our long-standing relationship with Canada as a night vision customer."
Night vision goggles and the associated image intensifier tubes are both high-performance devices that provide significantly enhanced low-light resolution for target recognition and identification. They can be hand-held, head- and helmet-mounted, or combined with a separate camera.
Exelis did not disclose the number of night vision devices and intensifier tubes it will deliver and gave no information on the performance period of the orders.
