MARYVILLE, Tenn., Sept. 3 (UPI) -- U.S. support services company Vanquish Worldwide LLC will continue to transport construction materials and other items to U.S. troops in Afghanistan.
The continued distribution services for more than 400 Forward Operating Bases in the country comes through an exercise of a contact option by U.S. Central Command under an earlier National Afghan Trucking contract (NAT).
The NAT contract is a multiple award, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract with an overall value of $983 million. Vanquish Worldwide says it is the only small business among contract awardees.
Vanquish said that under the original one-year base period of the NAT contract and a first one-year option, it was involved in more than 14,000 truck movements and traversed more than 1.5 million miles in Afghanistan with no loss of cargo, which includes fuel and security equipment.
Its drivers are well-versed on terrain and possible terrorist ambush points and its security guards are equipped with heavy machine guns.
