Harris gets USAF info technology contract

MELBOURNE, Fla., Aug. 8 (UPI) -- The Harris Corp. has won a place on the U.S. Air Force Network-Centric Solutions-2 Application Services contract for information technology services.

The contract is a multiple award, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity vehicle with a three-year base period of performance and four one-year options. Its potential value is $960 million.

Harris is one of six awardees.

"The Air Force operates at the cutting edge of technology, and we are excited to work in such a challenging environment," said Wayne Lucernoni, president of Harris IT Services. "We will offer the most effective and efficient services available and partner with the Air Force to stay ahead of its evolving IT requirements."

The Air Force's NETCENTS-2 contract is for acquisition of IT products and services support. Included are sustainment, migration, integration, training, testing and program operations.

Harris said it expects to help the service sustain legacy IT systems, migrate to new systems and develop new mission capabilities.
