Intelsat wins subcontract for U.S. military work

The award is in direct support of overseas activities of the Pentagon's Asymmetric Warfare Group.

"Intelsat General won this award because our robust network enables us to deliver connectivity to the warfighter in all parts of the globe," said Intelsat General President Kay Sears. "We are pleased that we can bring our network capabilities to support our small-business partners in this and other future contracts."

Intelsat General, a subsidiary of Intelsat S.S., which has headquarters in Luxembourg, will be a subcontractor to By Light Professional IT Services, a service-disabled, veteran-owned small business.

The company said the Asymmetric Warfare Group will use multiple Intelsat teleports in the United States and abroad to connect with several Intelsat satellites for global communications capabilities.

Diverse and redundant terrestrial circuits from Intelsat's gateway to AWG's networks will also be provided. The required bandwidth will augment existing and future MILSATCOM capacity to provide command, control and communications capabilities required by AWG.
