WALTHAM, Mass., April 11 (UPI) -- Raytheon reports that the Republic of Korea has chosen its advanced combat radar for the country's fleet of F-16C/D Block 52 aircraft.
The Raytheon Advanced Combat Radar is an active electronically scanned array system that was designed specifically for use on F-16 Fighting Falcons.
"RACR will keep the Republic of Korea's KF-16 combat-relevant in a constantly evolving threat environment," said Raytheon Space and Airborne Systems President Rick Yuse.
Delivery of the radars, which is subject to U.S. government approval, would begin in late 2016. The cost of the system and the number to be delivered, however, were not disclosed,
"RACR complements and leverages Raytheon's F-16 avionics heritage to provide the lowest risk, most affordable and highest reliability AESA retrofit solution," said Jim Hvizd, vice president of International Strategy and Business Development for Raytheon's Space and Airborne Systems business. "This experience has directly contributed to the ease of installation and performance that continues to exceed customer needs."
