SAIC launches hiring program

MCLEAN, Va., April 13 (UPI) -- More than 1,000 U.S. military veterans will find employment this year with Virginia's Science Applications International Corp.

SAIC, in an announcement this week, said it had launched a program to hire 1,500 veterans and that its program is in line with a White House effort to support former military service members and their families.

SAIC said more than 10,000 veterans are currently employed by the company. Veterans comprise about 25 percent of SAIC's workforce.

"While we understand the challenges of veteran employment, we also see the immense value they offer to the workforce," said Brian Keenan, SAIC executive vice president for human resources.

"SAIC's program to hire 1,500 veterans is a natural continuation of our commitment to serving the interests of military members and their families and we're proud to support the Joining Forces initiative."

SAIC said it currently offers services such as training, resume preparation and networking workshops for transitioning veterans.
