CHRISTCHURCH, England, Jan. 28 (UPI) -- Britain's Meggitt Plc will supply cockpit displays and other equipment for India's Hawk jet trainers under a subcontract from BAE Systems.

The subcontract, worth more than $7.9 million, covers items such as pressure gauges, pressure transducers, accelerometers, cabin altimeters, hydraulic pressure indicators and altitude pressure switches.

The equipment will be manufactured at the company's Meggitt Avionics' facility in Fareham from February of next year through August 2014.

Meggitt said its Aircraft Braking Systems Corp. has also won a contract on the jet trainer valued at more than $12.7 million. More than $2.1 million of that award is for original equipment to supply the nose and main wheels, brakes and brake control systems plus spares.

These contracts result from India's purchase of 57 BAE Hawk Advanced Jet Trainer Aircraft in July 2010. The aircraft are being built under license by Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd in India.

Forty of the trainers are destined for the Indian air force with the others going to the country's navy.
