BAE names new Information Solutions head

RESTON, Va., June 2 (UPI) -- Defense contractor BAE Systems announced the selection of a U.S. National Security Award medal recipient to head its Information Solutions unit.

BAE said Tuesday it has appointed John Gannon as the company's Information Solutions president. Gannon, who served in the CIA for 20 years including a stint as the CIA deputy director for intelligence, will head BAE's business unit dedicated to information technology and intelligence analysis among other activities.

BAE hand-picked Gannon from the company's Global Analysis business where he worked as vice president and senior general manager.

Gannon has a long history in intelligence activities including serving as the staff director for the House Select Committee on Homeland Security and heading the White House team that established the Homeland Security Department's Information Analysis and Infrastructure Protection Directorate among other prominent posts.

"John has a solid reputation across the intelligence and defense communities and I am confident that his leadership will have a major, positive impact on BAE Systems' intelligence and security business," Linda Hudson, BAE Systems Inc. president and chief executive officer, said in a statement.
