Boeing realigns IDS unit

ST. LOUIS, Jan. 12 (UPI) -- U.S. aerospace and defense company Boeing released a strategic business plan that realigns its Integrated Defense Systems unit.

Boeing announced recently its Integrated Defense Systems unit has reorganized its leadership in a move to better respond to evolving global security and defense market requirements.

Boeing said the strategic adjustment at its IDS segment -- now called Boeing Defense, Space and Security -- positions the company for the changing defense market including new unmanned vehicles and other emerging demands.

"Boeing anticipated flattening defense budgets and shifting customer priorities for the past few years and has been taking aggressive steps to position the company for profitable growth in a challenging economy," Dennis Muilenburg, Boeing Defense, Space and Security president and chief executive officer, said in a statement.
