Army orders additional M-ATVs from Oshkosh

OSHKOSH, Wis., Sept. 14 (UPI) -- The U.S. Army has awarded Oshkosh Corp. a follow-on contract to deliver additional mine-resistant, ambush-protected all-terrain vehicles.

U.S. company Oshkosh was awarded the contract from the Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command Life Cycle Management Command. Under the $189 million follow-on award, Oshkosh will deliver 352 of its M-ATVs.

The order, which is expected to be delivered by March 2010, marks the third award from the Army TACOM since June as part of an effort to address tactical vehicle requirements in the Afghanistan operational theater.

"Oshkosh is committed to meeting our customers' urgent need for this highly mobile vehicle and helping our Armed Forces serving in Afghanistan to better operate on the country's challenging terrain," Robert Bohn, Oshkosh chairman and chief executive officer, said in a statement.

"We have delivered more than 100 M-ATVs through August, meeting our planned delivery requirements, and we continue to increase vehicle output at our manufacturing facilities to remain on schedule and meet our customer's requirements."
