British contract Saab for training tech

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, Aug. 3 (UPI) -- The British Ministry of Defense has contracted Saab to continue providing support for ongoing Army training operations in Kenya.

Sweden-based Saab was awarded a follow-on contract by the British Defense Ministry to deliver a Battle Group-sized Deployable Tactical Engagement Simulation system for use in Kenya.

Saab, which has been working with the British Defense Ministry since 2007 on Army training in Belize and Kenya, will also provide technical support and training services for the simulation technology until 2011.

"Saab has developed a robust modular training system to meet the evolving need to train troops overseas in remote and harsh training environments with embedded personnel providing military training support in the field," Johan Ohlson, Saab Training president, said in a statement.
