MONTREAL, July 22 (UPI) -- L-3 MAPPS has contracted Mechtronix Systems to support an upgrade of the Canadian navy's Halifax Class frigates' Battle Damage Control Systems.
L-3 MAPPS is a supplier of ship control systems for the Canadian Navy. The company contracted Mechtronix to design two BUS Access Modules and VME Cards under a five-year deal.
Officials say the Mechtronix-designed BUS and VME technologies will go to support an upgrade of the Battle Damage Control Systems on 12 of the Canadian navy's Halifax Class frigates as part of an initiative to better manage emergency situations.
"We are pleased to announce the selection of Mechtronix as a key integrator in our development of the frigate BDCS network and look forward to work with its professional engineering team to build the upgrade for the Navy," Peter Dawson, L-3 MAPPS president, said in a statement.
