STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich., July 22 (UPI) -- The U.S. Army has contracted General Dynamics to provide technical support services on M1A1 Abrams tanks in Egypt.
U.S. company General Dynamics was awarded the contract from the Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command Lifecycle Management Command.
Under the $45 million contract, General Dynamics will provide manufacturing technical support for M1A1 Abrams tanks at a tank plant near Cairo as part of an Egyptian co-production program. The Abrams tanks were produced for the Egyptian Land Forces.
According to a news release the contract also includes supplying "component equipment such as tools, gauges, fixtures and machines."
