STOCKHOLM, Sweden, July 17 (UPI) -- Saab announced it has been contracted to provide security services at the South Queensland Correctional Precinct in Australia.
Sweden-based Saab says the contract, awarded by Baulderstone Pty Ltd., marks the company's first international introduction of its high-security location security solutions.
Under the deal, Saab will provide security services including implementing intruder alarms, electronic locking systems, cameras and biometric identification among other requirements at the South Queensland Correctional Precinct, currently a 300-bed women's prison that is expected to expand to a 3,000-prisoner facility.
"This is a breakthrough for Saab's security solutions for protection of high-security locations on the international market," Gunilla Fransson, Saab Security president, said in a statement.
"The contract also confirms the strengths of the key concept of the system, bringing a higher level of awareness to the decision making process and creating the base for more decisive and pro-active operations."
