SAIC acquires cybersecurity firm Atlan

MCLEAN, Va., July 14 (UPI) -- U.S. company Science Applications International Corp. Monday announced the acquisition of cybersecurity product testing company Atlan Inc.

SAIC acquired Virginia-based Atlan, a provider of Federal Information Processing Standard validation testing among other testing capabilities, in a move to expand its capabilities and offerings in the cybersecurity market.

As part of the acquisition Atlan's employees will become a part of the SAIC Intelligence and Information Solutions business unit's Accredited Testing and Evaluation Laboratories.

"The addition of Atlan's Federal Information Processing Standard testing capabilities enhances SAIC's overall cybersecurity capabilities as well as our portfolio of common criteria, Federal Information Processing Standard, and secure content application protocol testing services," Larry Cox, SAIC senior vice president and business unit general manager, said in a statement.

"The combined personnel and testing resources of SAIC and Atlan will help strengthen our position in the government cybersecurity product certification market."
