BATH, Maine, July 14 (UPI) -- The U.S. Navy has awarded General Dynamics a contract modification to continue its support for the DDG 51 Arleigh Burke-class Aegis Destroyer Program.
U.S. company General Dynamics says its Bath Iron Works subsidiary was awarded the contract. Under the $33.1 million deal, Bath Iron Works will continue to provide the Navy's DDG 51 Arleigh Burke-class Aegis Destroyer Program with lead yard services.
As part of the contract Bath Iron Works, which has provided the DDG 51 Arleigh Burke-class ships with support services for more than 20 years, will supply "technical assistance in the interpretation and application of the detailed design," a news release said.
The award, which modifies a contract from 2005, also includes work supporting restart and upgrade services with Aegis combat systems.
