SYRACUSE, N.Y., July 7 (UPI) -- Lockheed Martin announced it has delivered its new radar system to the U.S. Army following a recent live-fire performance testing.
U.S. company Lockheed Martin has deliver to the Army its first operational Non-Recurring Engineering Enhanced AN/TPQ-36 Counterfire Target Acquisition (EQ-36) Radar System on schedule.
The EQ-36 radar technology, which recently completed live-fire performance testing against indirect enemy fire at the Yuma Proving Ground in Arizona, is part of an effort to replace the Army's current TPQ-36 and TPQ-37 medium-range radars with next-generation technologies.
"We've listened carefully to the U.S. Army and understand the urgent need to field EQ-36 to protect soldiers currently in the theater," Carl Bannar, Lockheed Martin Radar Systems business vice president, said in a statement.
"We're very proud to deliver this first operational EQ-36 system to our customer on schedule."
