Wind River launches new platform

ALAMEDA, Calif., June 17 (UPI) -- California-based device software optimization company Wind River announced the launch of its new platform designed to support aerospace and defense security.

Wind River unveiled its new VxWorks MILS Platform 2.0 technology. The VxWorks MILS Platform 2.0 is part of an effort by the company to address the evolving computer system security needs.

The VxWorks MILS Platform 2.0, used by Boeing, General Dynamics and Lockheed Martin among others, will, according to a news release, provide a "robust operating system foundation and an award-winning development environment to build multilevel secure systems.

"The high performance and mature functionality of VxWorks MILS Platform 2.0 is based on seven years of customer experience with our time-and space-partitioning operating system for avionics implemented in more than 160 projects worldwide," Marc Brown, Wind River VxWorks Product Division vice president of marketing and strategy, said in a statement.
