IRVINE, Calif., June 17 (UPI) -- Ionfinity says development of its new threat detection and analysis technology for the U.S. military has made a significant step forward.
Ionfinity is working on two phase II contracts from the Army and Navy with a team that includes NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Imaginative Technologies and Sionex Corp. As part of the phase II contracts, Ionfinity's team is developing a new detection system capable of identifying hazardous chemicals, gases, drugs and improvised explosive devices among other threats.
According to a news release the team's development of a Differential Mobility Spectrometer-based technology for threat detection has "completed a key step."
"Ionfinity teamed with NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Imaginative Technologies and Sionex Corp. and successfully demonstrated a DMS-based technology designed to detect and analyze hazardous chemicals, explosives, toxic gases and illegal drugs for U.S. Army and Navy applications," James Weiss, Ionfinity chairman and chief operating officer, said in a statement.
