Saab to support Army DRTS program

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, June 16 (UPI) -- Saab has been selected to support the U.S. Army's Digital Range Training System program with its field simulators and target technologies.

Sweden-based Saab was awarded a contract to deliver its simulators and targets systems for five of the Army's gunnery ranges as part of the Digital Range Training System program.

The $12.4 million contract is from U.S. company General Dynamics Information Technology, the gunnery range's lead integrator. Officials say the simulators are expected to be installed over the next two years.

According to a news release, the Digital Range Training System program "provides live fire gunnery training facilities for the soldiers in a train-as-you-fight environment using live simulation and an after action review capability with position location, video imagery and digital vehicle information."
