MIAMI, May 28 (UPI) -- U.S. company Radiation Shield Technologies announced the release of its new improvised explosive device and radiological protection blanket.
RST Wednesday introduced its Demron-W High Energy Nuclear/Ballistic blanket designed to offer military and homeland security authorities protection from IEDs and other explosive threats. Officials say the new Demron-W technology also helps protect authorities from radiological and nuclear incidents.
RST says the new protection blanket, made from the company's patented Demron-W fabric, was developed as part of an effort to address evolving radiological threat protection requirements of the emergency response community.
"No other ballistic blanket currently provides significant protection against nuclear or radiological threats," Ronald DeMeo, RST president said in a statement.
"The (Demron-W) provides unsurpassed nuclear suppression and outperforms all current soft-body armor in anti-fragment and ballistic protection."
