Air Force contracts for more CMDS tech

MELBOURNE, Fla., May 21 (UPI) -- The U.S. Air Force has contracted Symetrics Industries to deliver its Countermeasures Dispenser System electronic warfare self-protection suite.

U.S. company Symetrics was awarded a follow-on contract from the Air Force of its AN/ALE-47 CMDS technologies. Officials say the contract is worth $3.5 million and adds to more than $24 million in orders the company has received for its AN/ALE-47 CMDS since 2006.

Symetrics says its AN/ALE-47 CMDS helps defend aircrews from electronic warfare, surface-to-air and air-to-air missile threats by releasing diversion flares.

"This order reinforces the confidence the government has in our ability to consistently exceed expectations by providing excellent service, in addition to delivering the highest quality product on-time and often early," Ann Gill, Symetrics director of Electronic Warfare programs, said in a statement.
