HANFORD, Calif., May 19 (UPI) -- Thresher Industries Inc. has made a shipment of aluminum parts to support a contract manufacturing U.S. military combat vehicles.
U.S. company Thresher Industries was contracted by Onodi Tool & Engineering Co. for its conventionally cast aluminum parts. Onodi will use the aluminum solutions as part of its contract from the U.S. military to support the manufacturing of Tier One combat vehicles.
Michigan-based Onodi provides support for the production of the Abrams M1 tank and Stryker vehicle, an eight-wheeled armored combat vehicle.
"The lightweight, reinforced strength of our 100 percent recycled aluminum castings are ideal for military vehicle use," Tom Flessner, Thresher Industries chief executive and president, said in a statement.
"Our parts can help decrease vehicle weight, which in turn allows for heavier armor application, and cut costs while promoting a cleaner, greener environment. Thresher is equipped to overcome the toughest challenges facing manufacturers today, including meeting the mission-critical requirements of the U.S. military."
