FORT WORTH, Texas, May 14 (UPI) -- The U.S. Army has contracted Elbit Systems of America to provide mortar ballistics system-integration support services.
Israel-based Elbit was awarded a $197.5 million deal from the Army Product Manager Mortars Systems as part of a Mortar Fire Control Systems Integration contract.
Elbit said it will perform the systems-integration work for the Army's lightweight hand-held mortar ballistic computer and mortar fire control systems at its Texas facility.
"We bring to this effort a wide breadth of fire-control-systems experience as well as the potential for making future improvements and adding operational capabilities," Raanan Horowitz, Elbit Systems of America president and chief executive, said in a statement.
"Elbit Systems of America will be providing the Army with mortar fire control systems that increase accuracy and timely fires and will do so while improving supply-chain responsiveness and affordability."
