FORT WORTH, Texas, May 5 (UPI) -- The U.S. Army has selected Elbit Systems of America to support a team developing a Ground Soldier Ensemble prototype.
Elbit was selected by the Army to join the Rockwell Collins-led team, known as Team Spartan, working on the Ground Soldier Ensemble program, a project developing a next-generation, lightweight computer technology that can be worn by soldiers in combat theaters.
Officials said Elbit was selected by the Army for its rugged military-computing technologies and Dominator computing system already deployed in battle scenarios.
"Team Spartan represents the best possible combination of companies, skills and combat-systems experiences," Raanan Horowitz, Elbit Systems of America president and chief executive, said in a statement.
"Together with Rockwell Collins and Boeing, we will provide our country's front-line men and women superior situational awareness and information superiority in a way that ensures they can execute their missions effectively and come back safely."
