SAN DIEGO, May 4 (UPI) -- The U.S. Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center has contracted Science Applications International Corp. for meteorology and oceanography engineering support.
U.S. company SAIC was awarded the contract from the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center-Pacific.
Under the $28 million deal, SAIC will provide the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center-Pacific's Meteorology and Oceanography and Joint Integrated Systems unit with engineering services.
The Meteorology and Oceanography unit provides the Navy and Marine Corps with advanced weather data for mission-critical decision-making.
"For the past 15 years, SAIC has provided support to the Navy (meteorology and oceanography) community," Tom Baybrook, SAIC senior vice president and business unit general manager, said in a statement.
"We look forward to continuing to deliver quality services and ultimately provide the best possible operational (meteorology and oceanography) systems to our deployed Navy and Marine Corps team."
