Microsemi acquires Endwave defense unit

IRVINE, Calif., April 30 (UPI) -- U.S. company Microsemi Corp. announced the acquisition of Endwave Corp.'s defense electronics and security business unit.

Integrated circuits and semiconductor developer Microsemi says it has purchased U.S. company Endwave's defense electronics and security unit for $28 million.

Microsemi says the acquisition is part of an effort to expand the company's growth in the radio frequency defense and homeland security market with next-generation video and voice communications, radar systems and remote sensing technologies.

"The combination of Microsemi's and Endwave's defense electronics and security product portfolios creates a strengthened high-reliability offering for the radio frequency defense and security market," James Peterson, Microsemi president and chief executive officer, said in a statement.
