Navy contracts for KC-130J engine support

INDIANAPOLIS, April 22 (UPI) -- The U.S. Navy has awarded a follow-on contract to Rolls-Royce to provide engine-support services for the KC-130J tanker aircraft.

British company Rolls-Royce said its Indianapolis-based operations were awarded a MissionCare contract from the Naval Air Systems Command. Under the $106 million deal, Rolls-Royce will provide support services for its AE 2100D3 engines integrated with the Marine Corps' KC-130J tanker aircraft.

Officials said the MissionCare contract is part of a program from Rolls-Royce that offers comprehensive engine care that can be customized for specific defense-customer requirements.

"Rolls-Royce has been providing support services to the (Marine Corps) KC-130J program since 2003, and we are pleased to build on that longstanding relationship," Dennis Jarvi, Rolls-Royce Defense North America president, said in a statement.

"MissionCare will deliver improved mission readiness with more predictable costs to the (Marine Corps), supporting the propulsion system throughout its entire life cycle."
