NEW YORK, April 21 (UPI) -- The U.S. Air Force and Army have contracted an L-3 Communications-led team to deliver seven additional C-27J Spartan military transport aircraft.
U.S. company L-3 was awarded the contract from the Army and Air Force Joint Cargo Aircraft program. Under the $203 million deal, the L-3-led team will deliver seven more C-27J aircraft to support the JCA program.
The announced contract with the L-3 team, which includes Alenia Aeronautica, Rolls-Royce, Honeywell and Dowty, brings the total number of C-27J aircraft ordered for the JCA program to 13.
"This latest order reflects the confidence that the U.S. government has in our abilities to continue to perform at the highest levels," Giuseppe Giordo, Alenia North America president and chief executive, said in a statement.
"Our team's intense focus on delivering on our commitments remains absolutely critical as we continue to meet the needs of our customers worldwide."
