Spartan Motors, Force Protection partner

CHARLOTTE, Mich., April 2 (UPI) -- U.S. companies Spartan Motors and Force Protection announced an agreement to jointly support mine-resistant ambush-protected vehicles.

Spartan Motors said its Spartan Chassis subsidiary has signed a contractor team arrangement with Force Protection, establishing a vehicle-support infrastructure between the two companies that will meet future life cycle-sustainment requirements of the Cougar MRAP vehicle.

The service agreement for the Cougar, an armored vehicle widely deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan, will include key staff and facilities from both Spartan Chassis and Force Protection.

"This new work structure will strengthen that relationship, create enhanced capabilities for the customer and ensure that the service, upgrades and spare parts this fleet of vehicles will need throughout its life cycle are delivered and executed with excellence," John Sztykiel, Spartan Motors president and chief executive, said in a statement.
