BMTS delivers Demolizer II to Air Force

ENGLEWOOD, Colo., April 2 (UPI) -- The U.S. Air Force has contracted BioMedical Technology Solutions Holdings Inc. for the company's biomedical waste-converter technology.

U.S. company BMTS announced it had delivered two of its Demolizer II systems to the Buckley Air Force Base in Colorado. The Demolizer II, which has been deployed by the Air Force for operations in Iraq, is designed to convert "infectious biomedical waste into non-infectious material," according to a news release.

Officials said the selection of the BMTS Demolizer II technology is part of an effort to introduce environmentally friendly systems for use by the Air Force and also to save money on the cost of transporting biomedical waste.

"This is an important milestone for both BMTS and the U.S. military," Don Cox, BMTS president and chief executive, said in a statement.

"The first release of the Demolizer technology was successfully used by the Air Force in Iraq. Since that time, we have enhanced the system to the highest environmental and quality standards. We believe the Demolizer II is ideally suited to meet the needs of all military branches."
