DISA approves Juniper Networks' firewall

SUNNYVALE, Calif., March 27 (UPI) -- The U.S. Defense Information Systems Agency announced firewall technology from Juniper Networks has been certified and placed on an approved-technologies list.

U.S. company Juniper Networks said its firewall solution passed the DISA Joint Interoperability Test Command evaluation as interoperable with the Internet Protocol Version 6.

Officials said the IPv6 interoperability certification places the Juniper Networks firewall on DISA's Unified Capabilities Approved Products List. The DISA Joint Interoperability Test Command evaluation certifies technologies used with U.S. government joint and combined operations.

"Ensuring security across the ever-expanding network edge of IP access devices, assets and users is now an essential component of federal and commercial network-security strategies," Bob Fortna, Juniper Networks Defense Sector vice president, said in a statement.

"Network security and resiliency is particularly critical given the rapid growth in the number and sophistication of cyber attacks on federal agency and U.S. industry networks."
