SRA to support Navy surface warfare center

FAIRFAX, Va., March 26 (UPI) -- The U.S. Navy has contracted SRA International Inc. to provide engineering services to support the Naval Surface Warfare Center.

U.S. company SRA was awarded a $40 million task order, if all options are exercised, as part of the Navy's SeaPort-enhanced contract vehicle. Under the deal, SRA will provide the Naval Surface Warfare Center's Indian Head Division in Maryland with engineering and program-support services.

The Indian Head Division of the Naval Surface Warfare Center is responsible for research and development of explosives and propellants for next-generation weapons systems. Officials said SRA will provide systems engineering, capabilities and requirements analysis and other services as part of the contract.

"This task order will involve warfare concept development and feasibility studies supporting a variety of naval and defense agencies," Pat Burke, senior vice president for SRA's national security sector, said in a statement.

"This effort will provide an opportunity for SRA to be on the cutting edge of technology and be responsive to the needs of the warfighter in the field."
