PHOENIX, March 26 (UPI) -- The U.S. Army has placed an order with BAE Systems for the company's Modular Lightweight Load Carrying Equipment soldier field-equipment system.
British company BAE was awarded contracts from the Army and the Defense Department's Defense Logistics Agency. Under the $35.7 million DLA order and $20 million Army order, BAE will manufacture and deliver MOLLE Core Rifleman sets. Officials said the contracts also include Ruck sets and components.
The MOLLE system includes a load-bearing vest, pockets, backpacks and a hydration system used by soldiers deployed in the field.
"The MOLLE system's adjustable design allows it to be scaled for specific operational environments, which contribute to the overall performance and effectiveness of the individual," Joe Coltman, BAE Systems vice president of personnel-protection systems, said in a statement.
