ALEXANDRIA, Va., March 16 (UPI) -- The U.S. Army and Air Force Exchange Service has contracted Agility Defense & Government Services to support freight shipments to Iraq.
Agility DGS was awarded a contract worth $5 million annually to support the Atlanta-to-Iraq shipping route for AAFES as part of the Defense Department's Air Freight to Iraq Tender contract.
AAFES, a joint-service military organization supplying retail stores, restaurants and others with merchandise and other supplies, contracted Agility DGS to support merchandise shipments being sent to U.S. military installations in western Iraq.
"With our global logistics network, we're able to generate savings that AAFES can use to improve the quality of life for soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines across the globe," Dan Mongeon, Agility DGS president and chief executive, said in a statement.
"Agility brings a depth of experience, having worked with both defense customers and commercial retailers."
