ROCKVILLE, Md., March 13 (UPI) -- BAE Systems said Thursday it has reached a deal to purchase Arizona-based unmanned aircraft systems developer Advanced Ceramics Research Inc.
British company BAE announced a definitive agreement has been signed for the acquisition of Advanced Ceramics Research. BAE said it will purchase Advanced Ceramics Research through a stock-purchase deal.
The purchase of Advanced Ceramics Research, which develops small UAS technologies and ceramic materials, is part of an effort by BAE to expand its operations in the UAS market. Officials said the purchase would be completed after the agreement has passed regulatory approvals.
"This acquisition will provide BAE Systems with an excellent set of mature, operational products within the small/mini and tactical UAS market," Walt Havenstein, president and chief executive of BAE Systems' U.S. subsidiary, said in a statement.
"The addition of these smaller UAS platforms will complement the larger UAS being developed by BAE Systems in the United Kingdom."
