The engine-wash deal is part of an engine-overhaul and -repair contract the Royal Australian Air Force has with U.S. company Boeing. Officials said the engine-wash services, which are designed to help Pratt & Whitney aircraft engines reduce fuel burn and eliminate carbon dioxide emissions, among other environmentally friendly effects, will take place at Australia's Amberley Air Base.

"We are proud to bring the EcoPower engine-wash service to the Royal Australian Air Force to help them operate their C-17 aircraft in a more efficient and environmentally friendly manner," Joanne Hastings, Pratt & Whitney line maintenance services director, said in a statement.
