Alion to expand Canadian navy operations

MCLEAN, Va., March 3 (UPI) -- Alion Science and Technology announced plans to further expand into the Canadian defense market with its Ottawa-based subsidiary.

U.S. company Alion said it would expand its Alion Canada subsidiary to address new design and engineering requirements of the Canadian navy and coast guard.

Based in Ottawa, Alion Canada will focus on expanding its presence with naval architecture and marine engineering services led by recently appointed retired Canadian navy Cmdr. Brett Johnson.

"Alion has had a long history of involvement in Canadian government programs, starting with the Canadian Patrol Frigate program and more recently with the Joint Support Ship program," Johnson, Alion's business development manager in the engineering and integration solutions sector, said in a statement.

"Alion is well positioned to assist the government of Canada and Canadian industry on future programs supporting the evolving needs of the Canadian navy and the Canadian coast guard."
