Elbit launches new dismountable computer

FORT WORTH, Texas, Feb. 26 (UPI) -- Israel-based Elbit Systems announced the release of is new ruggedized computer platform designed to support a modern digital battlefield.

Elbit says its Elbit Systems of America subsidiary has launched the company's new Tacter-31D, a rugged dismountable computer platform for military vehicles. Elbit also released its new RD-104 10.4-inch rugged display at the Association of the U.S. Army Winter Symposium in Florida.

Officials say the next-generation computer technologies are designed to address the demands of military units in the field with a latch-release system and a mode to accommodate night-vision goggles, among other advancements.

"We are very excited about these two new computer solutions," Jim English, Elbit Systems of America's vice president of command, control, communications, computers and intelligence solutions, said in a statement.

"We believe the new Tacter-31D is the most advanced vehicular mounted/dismounted military computer featuring a tablet configuration, thus enabling (users) to share image or command and control information on a platform away from the work station."
