LANHAM, Md., Feb. 25 (UPI) -- U.S. company Integral Systems Inc. announced it has acquired satellite identification technologies from QinetiQ Group.
Integral has purchased U.K.-based QinetiQ's satID assets and intellectual property. Integral's acquisition deal is part of an effort to add satellite-based geolocation capabilities to the company's product offerings.
Officials say security authorities use satID "to geolocate" potential interference threats on satellite communications. The announced acquisition also includes an agreement between Integral and QinetiQ to partner on future defense and intelligence projects.
"We are excited to bring this capability in-house to enhance our space situational awareness product and system offerings for our customers," John Higginbotham, Integral chief executive officer, said in a statement.
