SOCOM contracts for evaluation lab support

FAIRFAX, Va., Feb. 19 (UPI) -- The U.S. Special Operations Command has contracted the National Interest Security Co. to support a research and development lab.

U.S. company NISC says its Information Manufacturing portfolio company received the SOCOM contract. As part of the $2.8 million contract, NISC will continue development and support of SOCOM's unclassified test bed.

Officials say the unclassified test bed is a lab designed to rapidly evaluate information technology products for potential use by U.S. operational forces.

"NISC has been supporting SOCOM since 2006 in rapid testing of new IT products for operations against terrorist networks," Andrew Maner, NISC chief executive, said in a statement.

"Our employees are personally and professionally committed to SOCOM's mission to provide fully capable Special Operations Forces to defend the United States and its interests."
