NEW YORK, Feb. 19 (UPI) -- The U.S. Navy has contracted L-3 Communications to provide intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance software and engineering services.
New York-based L-3 says its Command and Control Systems and Software division was awarded the contract. As part of the deal, worth $87.4 million if all options are exercised, L-3 C2S2 will provide software, planning and engineering services for the Navy's intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance systems.
Officials say the contract includes support for unmanned aerial vehicles and mission training among other services.
"Our solid program performance and commitment to our naval customer over the past five years has resulted in this follow-on award," John Medea, L-3 C2S2 president, said in a statement.
"By blending information technology and software capabilities from across our services business, our L-3 team will continue to be a cost-effective, low-risk source for intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance systems support and extended applications to other Navy and joint programs."
