FORT WORTH, Texas, Feb. 17 (UPI) -- Texas Aviation Services has successfully completed a Blackhawk helicopter rewiring program designed to return the helicopters to combat operations.

U.S. company TAS says its Blackhawk Retrofit Center in Fort Worth has completed a long-term program to rewire former U.S. National Guard Blackhawk helicopters. The refurbished Blackhawks will be returned to operational capacity in Iraq and Kosovo.

TAS has been working to upgrade its helicopter retrofit center to accommodate additional aging aircraft refurbishment projects, including U.S. Special Forces helicopters and Chinook-sized twin engine helicopters.

"We are proud to have served our military with this important helicopter upgrade project," Mike Bashlor, TAS president, said in a statement.

"We have expanded our hangar capacities, back-shop depth, engineering team and program management skills specifically to take on even more Blackhawks and other government helicopter programs."
