Alion to support defense tech development

MCLEAN, Va., Feb. 5 (UPI) -- The U.S. Navy has awarded Alion Science and Technology a task order for modeling and simulations services in support of emerging defense technologies.

U.S. company Alion was awarded the task order by the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Navy Crane. The $4.3 million contract is for the Alion-operated Weapon Systems Technology Information Analysis Center to support the Naval Surface Warfare Center's Joint and Special Operations Program.


As part of the Special Operations Forces Technology Transition contract, Alion will explore new technologies and support equipment testing and software research for the development of night vision, ammunition and noise/flash suppression systems, among others.

The "Joint and Special Operations Program is being proactive in developing weapons systems for Special Operations Forces war fighters," Chris Amos, Alion senior vice president and manager of the Technology Solutions Group, said in a statement.

"Alion is supporting this effort by identifying new and emerging technologies to enhance the capabilities of Special Operations Forces weapons and weapons systems accessories. This critical work will help give our war fighters a great advantage on tomorrow's battlefield."
